Cris Miguel
 

Puppeteer, actress author of stories and screenplay for television shows for children, instrumentalist, singer, and dancer. She studied Arts at the University of Arts of Paraná.

 

Since 1997 is part of the music group “Mawaca”, which develops artistic research on ethnic music.

 

In 1997 she founded a puppet theatre company in São Paulo, Brazil called “Ópera in the Suitcase”. Later on, with the same company, she created a TV show for children with puppets and music, called “Baú de Histórias”. Over eighty shows were produced, recorded, and broadcasted from 2005 until 2009, and are still one of the audience´s favorite shows of this kind in Brazil.

 

In 2014 Cris Miguel started to work with the musician and actor Danilo Tomic. They created several new puppet theatre shows and have been presenting them worldwide. On June 2019, both founded a cultural center in São Paulo called “Casa Passarinho”, a space for music concerts and puppet theater, courses, and artistic activities. Since then, they named their artistic company the same name as their theatre: the “Cia Casa Passarinho”. In their cultural center, Cris Miguel created the “Mini Museum of Puppets and Handmade Dolls”, where she displayed many of their creations, manufactured by her and by the artist Paula Galasso.

She has been performing in several theatres, schools, and institutions in Brazil with a repertoire of thirteen shows. She also has been participating in various festivals around the world, in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Turkey, China, Bolivia, Argentina, Portugal, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Montenegro, Russia, Ukraine, and Marrocos.

- 2005: Prize APCA (Brazil) – Special prize for Puppets and Scenery for "A Rainha Marmota”

- 2007: Prize FEMSA (Brazil) – Best Music Award, for “Raimundo e a Menor Banda do Mundo”;

- 2008: Prize FEMSA (Brazil) – Best Music Award, for "Baú de Histórias";

- 2011: Children´s Theatres in Subotica (Serbia) – Best Acting Skills Award, for “Baú de Histórias”;

- 2012: PIF – Puppets International Festival Zagreb (Croatia) – Best Show Award (elected by the children’s jury), for “Baú de Histórias”;  

- 2016: Puppet Festival Podgorica (Montenegro) – Best Show Award (elected by the children’s jury), for “Tanto Mar”;  

- 2018: PuppetUP Festival in Kyiv (Ukraine) – Best Actress Award, for “Carmencita” (2018).

- 2019: Prize Profissionais da Mùsica – Mawaca Group – Best Vocal Group

-2021: Prize Profissionais da Música – Mawaca Group – Best Vocal Group
